Abstract
Kuwaron Village Hall, located in Gubug Sub-district,Grobogan Regency, faces two fundamental problems: a physically deteriorated building due to structural damage and annual flooding of approximately ±50 cm, and a mismatch between available spaces and the high-intensity needs of local community activities. Various community activities, ranging from provincial-level volleyball tournaments (Kuwaron Cup), badminton, table tennis, to PKK and Posyandu gatherings, take place in limited spaces. This design project aims to: (1) develop a Community Hall capable of accommodating diverse needs and activities of Kuwaron Village's local communities; and (2) achieve spatial integration between administrative service functions and community social spaces, creating harmonious spatial relationships without mutual interference. The method applied is Community-Based Design (CBD), involving interviews, field observations, Focus Group Discussions, and Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) of existing buildings. The design outcome is a 4,350 m² Community Hall complex divided into four zones: Zone A, the revitalized Pendopo, at the front as a single mass whose position is preserved; Zone B, the Village Office, at the center; Zone C, the GOR Lobby, as a connector; and Zone D, the wide-span Sports Hall (GOR) at the rear together with basement motorcycle parking. The Village Office, GOR Lobby, and GOR are unified into a single mass linked by a structural expansion joint, while the Pendopo stands apart as a marker of local identity. A basement beneath the GOR serves parking and flood-mitigation functions. A layered zoning system from public to private, combined with a linear east-west circulation pattern, ensures all functions operate harmoniously without mutual disturbance.
