Abstract

The design of a Rehabilitation Center for Children with Disabilities in Surakarta responds to the need for integrated and adaptive rehabilitation facilities. Existing services are still scattered and have not fully addressed the psychological and sensory needs of children with disabilities, particularly those with neurological disorders. This project applies a Neuro-Architecture approach, emphasizing the relationship between the built environment and users’ neurological responses. Design strategies include controlling sensory stimuli such as lighting, color, and acoustics, as well as organizing spaces based on levels of stimulation (low, medium, and high). Natural elements are integrated to enhance therapeutic effects, while a child-friendly spatial layout improves orientation and comfort. The design process involves literature review, precedent studies, and site and spatial analysis. The result is a comprehensive rehabilitation center that integrates therapy, education, and social interaction within a cohesive environment. This design aims to support emotional stability, psychological well-being, and the cognitive development of children through an inclusive and therapeutic architectural approach.
