Abstract

Students' geometric abilities need to be involved in solving mathematical problems. There have been many studies that reveal the geometric abilities of students at the junior high school level. But, However no research has yet revealed the geometric ability of students at Daarul Quran Middle School in solving HOTS questions. For this reason, this study aims to describe students' geometric thinking skills in solving HOTS questions in terms of spatial abilities. Six samples taken by purposive sampling technique in this study were students of class IX. Data collection methods used were tests, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were: (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation. (3) conclusion withdrawal. The results of the data analysis showed that the geometry skills of the Daarul Quran Middle School students possessed by the six students of Daarul Quran Junior High School were at the van Hiele thinking stage at level 0 to level 2. Where the van Hiele thinking stage of Daarul Quran Junior High students was at stage 2 for basic abilities. geometry with high spatial ability then students with moderate spatial ability are at stage 2 and stage 1, for basic geometry skills with low spatial ability are at stage 0.
