Abstract

The Gajah Mungkur Reservoir tourism area in Wonogiri Regency is one of the main destinations with significant potential for nature-based tourism development. However, the existing conditions indicate that spatial organization, facility quality, and the innovation of tourist attractions are still not optimal. Problems such as poorly maintained facilities, inadequate circulation systems, and the lack of integrated tourism concepts have reduced the overall visitor experience. Therefore, a revitalization effort is required to improve the function, aesthetics, and attractiveness of the area comprehensively. This study aims to formulate a design concept for revitalizing the Gajah Mungkur Reservoir tourism area as an educational and recreational sustainable tourism destination. The method used includes literature study, field observation, and site analysis. The design approach integrates educational, recreational, and environmental sustainability aspects. The results of this design are expected to create a well-organized, comfortable, and attractive tourism area while providing educational value for visitors. Furthermore, the application of sustainable principles is expected to maintain a balance between environmental, social, and economic aspects, ensuring that the tourism area can develop optimally and sustainably while benefiting the surrounding community.
