Abstract
This study is motivated by the importance of utilizing lexical and grammatical meanings to effectively convey ideas via digital media, specifically podcasts. It aims to analyze the lexical and grammatical meanings found in Gita Wirjawan’s podcast episode titled "Haruskah Kita Punya Filosofi Pendidikan" (Should We Have an Educational Philosophy?) and to examine the implications of these findings for Indonesian language instruction in senior high schools (SMA/MA) particularly regarding exposition texts within the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum) framework. A qualitative approach with a descriptive design was employed. The data consisted of spoken utterances from the podcast containing lexical and grammatical meanings, collected through listening, note-taking, and documentation techniques. The analysis of lexical meaning draws on Sumarlam’s (2003) theory covering repetition, synonymy, antonymy, collocation, hyponymy, and equivalence while the analysis of grammatical meaning relies on Chaer’s (2009) theory, encompassing affixation, reduplication, and compounding. The results indicate that the podcast utterances contain various forms of lexical and grammatical meaning that serve to clarify the communication of ideas, strengthen arguments, and facilitate listener comprehension of the educational issues discussed. Furthermore, the findings are applied to Indonesian language instruction for Phase E (Grade 10) regarding exposition texts, utilizing a project-based learning model aligned with the Kurikulum Merdeka Learning Outcomes (Capaian Pembelajaran or CP). Thus, podcasts can serve as authentic and contextual learning resources, helping students grasp linguistic concepts while developing critical thinking, communication skills, and contextual understanding applicable to real-life situations.
