Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-disclosure and intimacy with relationship satisfaction among individuals engaged in Friends With Affection (FWA) relationships through cyber accounts on the social media platform X. This study employed a quantitative correlational approach involving 101 participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS), Personal Assessment of Intimacy in Relationships (PAIR), and Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS), and analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The results showed that self-disclosure was not associated with relationship satisfaction, whereas intimacy had a significant positive relationship with relationship satisfaction. Simultaneously, self-disclosure and intimacy were significantly associated with relationship satisfaction, F(2,98) = 20.181, p < .001, R = .540, and R² = .292, explaining 29.2% of its variance. These findings highlight the importance of intimacy in relationship satisfaction among individuals engaged in FWA relationships and provide insight into interpersonal relationship dynamics in digital interactions.
