Abstract

The purpose of this study is twofold. How is the use of the hyperbolic language style in the Indonesian Idol 2018 jury? How to use the form and meaning of the hyperbolic language style in the Indonesian Idol 2018 jury. The method used is content analysis. The data collection used in this study is a record and data analysis because the data source is in the form of video. The data elasticity used in this study is the triangulation of data and sources to explore the truth of certain information through the methods and sources obtained by the data. The data analysis technique used in this study uses flow analysis, which includes three components, namely: (1) data reduction; (2) data presentation; (3) drawing conclusions. Flow model analysis has three components that are intertwined well, namely before, during and after the implementation of data collection. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that (1) based on the hyperbolic language style in the form and meaning of the hyperbolic language style in the Indonesian Idol 2018 jury there are ways to use the hyperbolic language style, direct and indirect forms in Indonesian Idol 2018 jury commentators totaling 33 jury commentators. In the direct form, it consists of 28 jury commentators and indirectly consists of 8 jury commentators. The purpose of using the hyperbolic language style which means denotative and connotative meaning is so that the message conveyed is easy to understand and does not seem to exaggerate a delivery to others. (2) based on the results of the analysis of the hyperbolic language style, it can be concluded that jury commentators have a variety of language styles. The hyperbolic language style is a style of language that is like a style of language that contains a statement that is excessive in exaggerating something that emphasizes intentionally.
