Abstract

The paper aims to analyze the gender discrimination of main character in family sphere, to describe how the main character as a female is depicted in the novel by the family around, and to describe how the main character makes deal with the discrimination she had in the novel ‘Kim JiYoung, Born 1982’ by Cho Nam Joo. The data source is novel entitled Kim JiYoung, Born 1982 2016 by Cho Nam Joo. The researcher used feminism theory to analyze data. The researcher used qualitative approach and used instrument document analysis method and note-taking for data collecting. The result of study is the novel showed violence, subordinate, workload, stereotypes, and marginalization as gender discrimination faced by the main character, Kim JiYoung.
