Abstract
One of the main goal of teaching English in Senior High School is to enable the students to read and comprehend reading materials. In this case, students need some kinds of reading strategies to develop their reading ability. The result of the study is: 1) The high achiever students applied four LLS; memory strategy, social strategy, metacognitive strategy, and cognitive study; the points are 100%, 100%, 100%, and 50%. 2) There are similarities and differences between high and low achiever students concerning Language Learning Strategies. 3) Problem faced by high and low achiever student. 4) Solutions applied by the teacher dealing with the students’ problems were different depends on the teachers. The result of the study hopefully can be useful for English teachers to be more creative in applying the techniques of teaching reading skill and for students to know more about LLS so they can learn reading skill more effectively.
