Abstract

Instagram is one of the most widely used social media by the community, many features are presented in Instagram, one of which is the comment column feature that people can use to write. The writings contained in the comments column are very diverse, such as writing opinions/arguments, criticisms, suggestions, or aspirations. This study has a purpose, namely (1) Knowing the type of satire language contained in the DPR RI Instagram comments column. (2) Describe the meaning of the satirical language contained in the DPR RI Instagram comments column. (3) Explain the function of using satire language contained in the DPR RI Instagram comments column. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data in this study are words or sentences contained in the DPR RI Instagram comments column that contain satire language. The data source in this study is in the form of comments written by Instagram users in the DPR RI Instagram comments column. Data collection techniques used in this study are listening techniques, note-taking techniques, and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques that can be used in this study are the agih method and the referential equivalent method. The validity of the data in this study used triangulation theory. The results of this study are (1) There is a type of satire language style in the DPR RI Instagram comments column. There are seven types of satire language found in this study, namely satire, cynicism, sarcasm, melosis, satire, irony, innuendo, and antifrasis. (2) The meaning of satire language found in this study is in the form of the similarity of meaning of two things, the closeness of meaning between two things, and the application of one meaning to the application of another meaning. (3) The satirical language function found in this study is in the form of a function to create certain conditions in a person's heart which includes (feelings of anger, disappointment, worry, pleasure, and sadness), a function to influence/convince the interlocutor, and a function to strengthen the effect of a speech idea.
