Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and intellectual disability independence at the Sragen Social Service Institution. This study uses a quantitative approach with the correlation method. The sample in this study were persons with intellectual disabilities at the Sragen Social Service Institution which only had 15 people in the mild category and 45 people in the moderate category. The data collection technique used a social support questionnaire and a independence questionnaire. The research data analysis was carried out by using normality test and linearity test. Hypothesis testing uses product moment correlation analysis. The results show that the product moment correlation obtained a score of = 0,417; p = 0,000 (p < 0,05), so it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between social support and independence for people with intellectual disabilities at the Sragen Social Service Institution, meaning that the higher the social support, the higher the independence of persons with intellectual disabilities.
