Abstract
The research with the title "Analysis of Class X SMA / SMK Mathematics Students Book Based on Horizontal and Vertical Approaches" aims to determine the characteristics of the SMA / MA / SMK / MAK Mathematics textbook class X 2013 revision of the 2017 curriculum based on the horizontal and vertical approaches. Through the horizontal approach, data were obtained in the form of physical characteristics and instructional components. The data collection technique used text analysis and literature study, then for the data analysis technique used content analysis. With a vertical approach, data types of context, type of information and type of cognitive demand are obtained. The results of the research that have been obtained in the SMA / MA / SMK / MAK Mathematics book are that most of the questions are no context. With the overall percentages obtained are 73% no context, 17% camouflage context, and 10% relevant and essential context. Then the type of information obtained is the percentage of 54% matching, 46% missing, and 0% superfluous. And the last is the type of cognitive demand with the percentage obtained, namely 54% connection, 32% reproduction, and 14% reflection. Whereas for the coefficient of cohen's kappa of the three types above all have an alpha value above 0.7 making it meet the reliable criteria. This also means that there is a high agreement between the researcher and the external coder.
