Abstract

This research aims to describe students' mathematical communication skills in solving single variable linear equations in terms of gender. This research is a qualitative research with a case study design. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Sawit with research subjects consisting of 6 subjects, namely 3 male subjects and 3 female subjects. The data collection techniques used in this study were tests, documentation, and interviews. The data analysis technique used is through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the analysis, it was concluded that: (1) male students and female students with high abilities were able to meet all indicators of mathematical communication skills; (2) male students with moderate ability are able to meet the second and third mathematics communication ability indicators, while female students with moderate abilities are able to meet the first and second indicators of mathematical ability; (3) male students with low abilities are only able to meet the first indicator of mathematics communication ability, while female students with low abilities are only able to meet the indicator of first mathematics communication ability.
