Abstract
One use of language in daily life is the use of language in advertisements, one of which is in television advertisements. One of the food and beverage advertisements on television is the Chocolatos advertisement. Consumer understanding can be assessed through understanding the meaning and intent contained in the language of advertising. Understanding the meaning and purpose of advertising can be assessed through pragmatic analysis in the form of speech act analysis in the language of advertising. This research has 2 objectives to be achieved namely describing the form of speech acts of the slogan variant of chocolatos adverts on private television and the function of speech acts of slogan variant of chocolatos advertisements on private television. This research uses descriptive qualitative research design. The results of a study of 10 chocolatos advertising slogans by the authors, found slogans that use a form of indirect declarative speech acts as many as 8 slogans. Two slogans using imperative speech acts. Furthermore, slogans were found that used assertive speech acts as many as 4 slogans, commissive speech acts as many as 4 slogans and directive speech acts as much as 2 slogans.
