Abstract
This study aims to improve learning activities and mathematical understanding of students in grade IV MIM Pucangan Kartasura fraction number material using fractional card media. Fraction card media is used by the teacher through a fraction card game. This type of research is classroom action research. Data collection techniques used were interviews, documents, observations, and written tests. This research procedure uses four stages, namely planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. The research instrument used teacher observation sheets, student observations, and written tests. Based on learning activities and mathematical understanding obtained, it can be concluded that by using the media fraction cards students are more ready to participate in learning, students become more listening when the teacher explains, students are more enthusiastic in doing assignments, students are bolder in asking questions, students are more conducive when learning , and fourth grade students of Muc Pucangan Kartasura experienced an increase in pre-cycle of 13.7% which was completed in fraction number material. The increase in the first cycle was 18.2% while in the second cycle it was 90.9%. The increase was caused in explaining the rules of playing a fractional card teacher giving a simulation of implementing a fractional card game. Thus students can play fraction card games according to the rules of the game.
