Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the error analysis based on newman or Newman's Error Analysis. In the newman analysis there are 5 characteristics or indicators. The 5 indicators are then applied to the results of the triangular material test for students of class VII B SMP Negeri 3 Karangtengah. From the results of the tests given, the researchers then selected 3 subjects for interviews. The interview also refers to 5 newman indicators. Data collection techniques used were triangular material tests, interviews, and documentation. Analysis of the data used is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions which then do the validity of the data using triagulation. The results of the study showed that students had various errors in working on the problem. From the percentage that has been obtained, the most characteristic or indicator of error is the error in process skills and writing the final answer. If the student is said not to make a mistake, he is able to read, understand, transform verbal questions into mathematical formulas and formats, make substitutions to the formulas that have been found, and write the final answer and conclusions. Whereas newman errors occur when students cannot read the story questions, do not understand the questions, do not transform into formulas, make mistakes in substituting numbers, and They ware’nt write the final answers and conclusions.
