Abstract

The study aims to describe the mistake made by students in solving about system of two variable linear equation that are viewed from the SOLO taxonomy (Structure Of The Observed Learning Outcome) and the factors that cause errors in these students so that similar errors can be minimized so that mathematics learning achievements can be improved. This type of research is qualitative research. The informants from this study were VIII grade A students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Surakarta. The result of the study were obtained the prestructural level of 8,33%, the unistructural level of 10,72%, the multistructural level of 32,14%, the relational level of 27,38%, and than the extended abstract level of 21,43%. These results show the mistakes of students at the multistuctural level that are the most from the other level with the type of algebraic operation errors. Students error at the multistructural level are caused by lack of students understanding of the algebraic operation and students do not check answers again before leaving work
