Abstract
This study aims to determine the mathematical literacy skills of class VIII students in solving system problems with linear equations of two variables based on gender differences. This study uses descriptive qualitative research. Retrieval of data in this study uses a test system questions linear equations two variables, student interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out interactively by reducing data collection, reducing data, presenting data, and conclusions. Subjects in the study were four students of class VIII G SMP Negeri 3 Kartasura consisting of two male students and two female students, selected based on the consideration of the mathematics teacher. The results of this study indicate that the mathematical literacy skills of class VIII students in completing the Two Variable Linear Equation System based on gender differences do not have many differences. Of the five basic mathematical abilities which are the main points in the mathematical literacy process, the abilities that are mostly possessed by male and female students are communication skills, while the abilities that many male and female students do not possess are mathematical, reasoning and giving abilities. and choose strategies to solve problems.
