Abstract

This research has the background of the importance of the method in the study of the yellow book, namely the Arabic language book without doubt / contains the Islamic religious knowledge by Middle Eastern scholars in medieval times. In learning yellow book the right method is needed so that the learning objectives can be conveyed optimally. The yellow book is usually studied in Islamic boarding schools and is the main teaching material besides the Qur'an and the Sunnah. But besides being studied at the yellow book boarding school, it was also studied in the formal school MAN-PK 1 Surakarta. Through the yellow book learning, Surakarta MAN-PK 1 students were able to speak Arabic by winning in various Arabic language competitions and having graduates who were accepted at foreign universities, especially the Middle East, which made Arabic the primary language. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the implementation of the yellow book learning method in improving Arabic language skills of students of class XI and how the ability of Arabic language students of class XI after studying the yellow book in the MAN-PK 1 Surakarta. This study aims to describe the implementation of the yellow book learning method in improving Arabic language skills of XI grade students of MAN-PK 1 Surakarta in the 2018/2019 academic year and describes Arabic language skills of XI graders after studying kitab kuning in MAN-PK 1 Surakarta in the school year 2018/2019. This type of research is qualitative by collecting data through interviews, observation, and documentation. While in analyzing data using inductive methods. Based on this study it can be concluded that Surakarta MAN-PK 1 uses sorogan, bandongan and nahwu methods in studying the yellow book. The bandongan method is implemented with the teacher reciting sentences from the yellow book, translating and giving thanks or explaining the rules of Arabic contained in it. The sorogan method is done by students reading a sentence from the yellow book and explaining the Arabic rules contained therein. Whereas the nahwu method is carried out with the teacher teaching nahwu or the structure of the Arabic language to female students. The improvement of Arabic language skills of students possessed after studying the yellow book includes the ability to read the yellow book, listening to learning, writing, and speaking Arabic which is measured by teacher observation, the average report card score, and the champion's achievement at the race.
