Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve of students mathematics learning activites through Cooperative Learning Model of Group Investigation Type. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 5 Surakarta in class VIII D. Data collection methods that is used during the study were observation methods, field notes, and documentation. Research result revealed that the application of Cooperatif Learning Model of Group Investigation type can improve students mathematics learning activities. The increase in student mathematics learning activity seen from the percentage of indicators learning activity that is: 1) courage to ask questions before the Act there were 7 students (21.87%), after the action to 23 students (71.87%); 2) Courage to answer questions before the Act there are 5 students (15.62%), after the action to 23 students (71.87%); 3) the courage to working on the matter to the next class before the Act there are 5 students (15.62%), after the action be 21 students (65.62%). Through this research can illustrate that by using cooperative learning type of Group Investigation is one alternative learning that can improve student learning activities.
