Abstract

The purpose of the study, (1) to examine the contribution of the socio-economic level of parents and the learning discipline to the mathematics learning outcomes through self-reliance, (2) to examine the contribution of the socio-economic level of parents and the discipline of learning towards independence; (3) to examine the contribution of independence to the learning outcomes of mathematics. Type of research based on quantitative research. The population of this study is 200 students of class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta. Research sample of 134 students determined by a solvin formula. Sampling with proportional random sampling. Data collection techniques with documentation and closed questionnaires. Data analysis technique used path analysis with the assumption test of F test, t-test, and R2 test. A result of the research, (1) socioeconomic level of parent and learning discipline contribute simultaneously to mathematics learning result by independence equal to 6,7% with (α = 0,05). Partially, the socioeconomic level of parents does not contribute significantly to the learning outcomes of math, the discipline does not contribute significantly to the learning outcomes. independence does not contribute significantly to learning outcomes. (2) the socioeconomic level of parents and learning discipline contribute simultaneously to self-reliance of 5%. Partially, the socio-economic level of parents does not contribute significantly to independence, the discipline of learning does not contribute to independence. (3) independence contributes to the mathematics learning outcome of 5.46%.
