Abstract
This study aims to analyze and determine the percentage of mistakes made by students in solving SPLDV problems based on Kastolan stages, identifying the causes factors, and analyzing the scaffolding that can be used to handle it. The sample of this research is taken by using purposive sampling technique from all student population of class VIII SMPN 9 Surakarta year of study 2017/2018. Data collection techniques using documentation, text, and interview techniques. Data anaslisis technique is done through data reduction process, data presentation, and conclusion. Based on the result of data analysis, it can be concluded that there are 28,20% of students who do conceptual error, 81,50% have procedural error, and 66,10% have technical error. Internal factors causing errors due to students less thorough, less exercise questions, less understanding of the prerequisite, less understanding of the concept of solving the problem of linear inequality two variables, and lack of understanding the basic concepts of elimination methods and substitution materials prerequisites. Scaffolding that can be given is explaining, reviewing, restructuring, and developing conceptual thinking.
