Abstract

ABSTRACT Hartarto, Arga Radetya. A610110035. EFEKTIVITAS PENERAPAN STRATEGI THE POWER OF TWO PADA MATERI HUBUNGAN SOSIAL MATA PELAJARAN IPS KELAS VIII DI SMP AL-ISLAM KARTASURA. Script. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. October, 2017. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of The Power of Two strategy and the difference in the effectiveness of the use of The Power of Two strategy in achieving the objectives of IPS class VIII learning in SMP Al-Islam Kartasura class VIII of the academic year 2015/2016. This type of research uses quantitative descriptive experimental method by way of presentation of lesson materials where students experiment with experience to prove themselves something question or hypothesis learned. The population in this study is all students of class VIII SMP Al Islam Kartasura The academic year 2015/2016 with a total of 233 students and taking a sample of 66 students. The results of this study using research instruments in the form of a matter of pre test and post test questions as many as 15 items that will show the assessment results of the knowledge aspect. The average value of class VIII B as control class shows pre test result of maximum score of 14 minimum score 5 and average value equal to 10.09 while for post test the maximum score is 15, minimum score is 8 and average value is 11.75 and class VIII A as an experimental class obtained pre test results with a maximum value of 15 values minimum 7 and average value of 11.21 while post test results show the highest value of 15 and the lowest value 11 while the average value indicates 14.45. The result of experiment class average score increased from pre test result 11,21 and post test result showed average 14,45 after getting treatment in learning that is implementation of strategy of The Power of Two.
