Abstract

This research paper aims to describe the paragraph writing process by the students of SLTP N 1 Banjarmangu, Banjarnegara.. The writer’s objectives of this Study are; 1) How is the teaching writing process in the classroom of second year of SLTP I Banjarmangu?, 2) What are the problems faced by the teacher, and 3) What are the problems faced by the second year students of SLTP N I Banjarmangu in writing paragraph? In gathering the data,the writer uses applies the descriptive qualitative research which produces the descriptive data in the form of written words form observing people and behavior. The writer interviewed the teacher and observed 35 students of VII A class of the second year. The writer implemented descriptive method in this research, so in conducting her research, the writer does some ways to collect the data, such as doing observation, analyzing documentation, and conducting interview. The results of the research paper show, that 1) The teaching writing was not sufficient which makes the students’ writing ability lack behind. The students’ ability in paragraph writing is not sufficient enough. 2) The problems the teacher faced were concerning the time allotment, teaching material, and students’ background. The teaching materials were too insufficient. The method was insufficient because lack of references. Teaching media were so lack that the teacher uses available teaching media in classroom. 3) There are 34% or 12 students faced the difficulty in accuracy by not providing name in the beginning of the paragraph. All of the 35 student or 100% faced the grammatical problem. About 10 students or 28,5% faced the coherence problem. About 19 students or 54% faced the misspelling problem. About 5 students or 14,3% faced the writing form problem.
