Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of nozzle diameter variations of 1.3 mm, 1.5 mm , and 1.7 mm on the ST 37 steel metal cutting process with a cnc plasma cutting machine. In the study, several tests will be carried out, namely Surface Roughness Testing using the MITUTOYO SJ210 Surface Roughness Tester tool and Surface Topography Testing using the SEM tool. The method used in this study is experimental. The results of the Surface Roughness Test show that the nozzle diameter variation of 1.5 mm has the smoothest roughness value results while the nozzle diameter variation of 1.7 mm has the coarsest roughness value results. The results of the Surface Topographic Test show that the variation in nozzle diameter of 1.5 mm has a smooth surface tends to be a green surface and does not have dark red and dark blue colors which shows a height difference that is not too significant while the variation in nozzle diameter of 1.7 mm has a rough surface tends to be a green surface and the presence of dark blue and dark red colors and the presence of uneven curves makes a higher surface roughness value compared to other variations.
