Abstract
This study analyzes Gapasioneerden's personality in the main character in J.S Khairen's Kado Terbaik novel and its relevance to teaching materials in junior high school. This study aims to (1) describe the structure of the story contained in the Kado Terbaik novel by J.S Khairen, (2) Analyze of Gapasioneerden's personality on the main character in the Kado Terbaik novel by J.S Khairen, and (3) describe the relevance of the results of Gapasioneerden's personality research in the study of literary psychology with teaching materials in the form of narrative texts. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with a case study strategy designed. The subject of this study is the Kado Terbaik novel by J.S Khairen with the object of research on the personality of Gapasioneerden on the main character. The data in this study is the content of the Kado Terbaik novel in the form of sentences, paragraphs and dialogues. The source of data in this study is the novel Kado Terbaik by J.S Khairen. Data collection using literature study techniques. Test the validity of the data using the source triangulation technique. Data analysis uses semiotic reading techniques which are divided into heuristic and hermeneutic stages. The results of this study show the following discussion. First, that in the Kado Terbaik novel there are themes and facts of the story which include characters and characterizations, background stories and plots. (1) the theme in the Kado Terbaik novel by J.S Khairen takes the theme of the main character's life, (2) the character is analyzed based on his role in the story, character or characteristics, and aspects which are divided into psychological, physiological, and sociological aspects, (3) the setting is analyzed into three parts, namely place, time, and social, (4) the plot is in the form of a forward flow consisting of the preparation stage, conflict generation, conflict escalation, climax, and resolution. Second, the Gapasioneerden Personality contained in the Kado Terbaik novel by J.S Khairen shows a stubborn, selfish, ambitious, emotional attitude, lacking in terms of help, but has a fairly good family side. Third, researchers found a match between Gapasioneerden's personality in the main character in the novel and teaching materials for narrative texts in junior high school. The narrative text is in the learning outcomes of class VII phase E, elements of reading and memirsa. The main character of the narrative text in the Indonesian book released by the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2021 shows the similarity of Gapasioneerden's personality to the main character in the Kado Terbaik novel by J.S Khairen.
