Abstract

Students who face final exams or thesis will be hit by anxiety. One of the underlying factors is the readiness of students in the academic field to face the thesis itself. An understanding of the material is very much needed in working on a thesis so that students are not overwhelmed by excessive anxiety. In this case the researcher conducted a study aiming to determine the relationship between self-readiness and social support with anxiety. The research method used is a correlational quantitative approach with a purposive sampling data collection technique with criteria in the form of 2018 class students who will or are currently working on a thesis at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, totaling 188 students. The research instrument used was a questionnaire with a scale of self-readiness, social support and anxiety as the variables to be studied. Data analysis in this study used multiple linear regression analysis. With the result that there is a significant relationship between self-readiness and social support with the anxiety of students of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarata facing their thesis, so the major hypothesis can be accepted with an F result of 14.111 and a significance of 0.000 with a simultaneous correlation of the two variables of 0.296. While the results of the analysis on the first minor hypothesis show a correlation that occurs at -0.164 with a significance of 0.013 which indicates that self-readiness (X1) has a significant negative relationship with student anxiety facing thesis exams. The higher self-readiness, anxiety will decrease and vice versa. While the results of the second hypothesis analysis have a correlation of -0.132 with a significance of 0.011 which also shows that the social support variable (X2) has a partial negative relationship to student anxiety facing thesis exams, the higher the social support, the anxiety will decrease.
