DEVELOPMENT OF CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY COMPETENCY IN THE PROCESS OF PANCASILA EDUCATION AND CITIZENSHIP LEARNING THROUGH THE CARD SORT STRATEGY (STUDY ON CLASS VIII STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 1 MOJOLABAN). Research Paper. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta. November, 2022. Citizenship responsibility (civic responsibility) is part of one of the competencies of Civics, namely citizenship character (civic disposition). This is because civic responsibility includes the character, attitude, or behavior of responsibility as a good citizen. When observed, the character of responsibility slowly began to be ignored by people, one of which was among students. Many have committed violations, disobeyed the applicable rules, and not a few have taken actions which indirectly have a negative impact on others. This study aims to describe how the development of civic responsibility competence in the Civics learning process through the card sort strategy, what are the obstacles and solutions to the obstacles in developing civic responsibility competence through the card sort strategy. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The subjects of this study were the principal, PPKn teacher, and class VIII E students of SMP N 1 Mojolaban. The results of this study indicate that the development of civic responsibility competence in the Civics learning process through the card sort strategy in class VIII E of SMP N 1 Mojolaban is going well. Most of the students in the class have developed their responsibility and commitment to assignments, responsibility for completing assignments on time, and responsibility for working on group assignments. Constraints faced when developing civic responsibility competence through the card sort strategy, such as the lack of time to apply the card sort strategy, because the teacher must give students the opportunity to change sports clothes that are not yet timed to wear. In addition, the condition of students was less focused on doing group assignments and paid less attention when their friends were making presentations in front of the class and it was found that students did not participate in doing assignments in their groups. Solutions to the obstacles given by the teacher such as giving reprimands to students and giving assignments in groups to increase student responsibility. Another solution is to monitor all students while working on group assignments and provide guidance to students who are still confused about the implementation of the card sort strategy.
