Abstract
Denpasar City is the center of activity in Bali Province which is vulnerable to tsunami threats due to its location bordering the Indo-Australian Plate and dominated by low-lying coastal topography. This study aims to identify the level of tsunami vulnerability and its potential impact on settlements in Denpasar City. The method used is a descriptive quantitative method based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with the Weighted Overlay Analysis technique on four vulnerability parameters, namely land elevation, slope gradient, distance from the coastline, and land use. The analysis results show that tsunami vulnerability in Denpasar City is divided into three classes. Medium vulnerability dominates an area of 65.56 km² (52.04%), followed by high vulnerability covering an area of 58.28 km² (46.26%) concentrated in the coastal areas of South, West, and East Denpasar Districts. Meanwhile, low vulnerability only covers 1.55 km² (1.23%) in a small part of North Denpasar. This high level of vulnerability is influenced by the lack of natural topographic barriers and the massive residential area, which covers 84.74 km² (67.27% of the city's total area). South Denpasar District has the greatest potential impact, with the largest settlement area, covering 30.99 km², in the very low elevation zone. Conversely, North Denpasar District is the safest area and is strategically located as an evacuation point.
