Abstract

Marriage registration is a crucial instrument in the Indonesian legal system, providing legal certainty, protecting civil rights, and ensuring orderly administration for the public. However, in practice, various issues remain, such as unregistered marriages, interfaith marriages, and marriage dispensations. This study aims to analyze the implementation of marriage registration at the Mojolaban District Office of Religious Affairs (KUA), Sukoharjo Regency. This study is a normative-empirical legal study using an empirical juridical approach. Data were obtained through interviews with officials at the Mojolaban KUA and a literature review of relevant laws and regulations. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The results indicate that the implementation of marriage registration at the Mojolaban KUA has been carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Marriage registration provides legal certainty and protects marital status and the rights of husbands, wives, and children. However, its implementation still faces obstacles, including low public legal awareness and the continued practice of unregistered marriages
