Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of social solidarity values contained in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori and examine its use as a teaching material for writing poetry with the help of YouTube media in Indonesian language learning. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The primary data were obtained from the novel Laut Bercerita, while supporting data came from questionnaires given to five Indonesian Language and Literature Education students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, UMS and an Indonesian language teacher from SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Sragen and SMA Negeri 2 Sukorejo. Data collection was carried out through listening, note-taking, and questionnaire techniques, then analyzed by reading, grouping, and interpreting data related to the value of social solidarity. The research results show that this novel contains the values of cooperation, social awareness, mutual assistance, loyalty, and collective responsibility, which are depicted through the relationships between the characters. Furthermore, the use of the novel as a teaching material for writing poetry using YouTube received a positive response, as the material became more engaging and easier to understand. These findings indicate that the novel "Laut Bercerita" can be used as a source of inspiration and teaching material to help improve poetry writing skills and foster students' values of caring and responsibility.
