Abstract
Diarrhea is one of the most common health problems among toddlers and may lead to complications if not managed properly. One of the factors that plays an important role in preventing complications of diarrhea is the mother’s level of knowledge. This study aimed to describe mothers’ knowledge regarding diarrhea among toddlers in the working area of Kartasura Primary Health Center. This study employed a descriptive research design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all mothers with toddlers who visited Kartasura Primary Health Center. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling, with a total of 85 respondents. The research instrument was a questionnaire containing questions on mothers’ knowledge of diarrhea among toddlers, including the definition of diarrhea, signs and symptoms, risk factors, fluid and nutritional intake, zinc supplementation, and recognition of danger signs. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and presented in the form of frequency and percentage distributions. The results showed that most mothers had a good level of knowledge regarding diarrhea among toddlers, while some had a moderate and low level of knowledge, particularly in aspects related to zinc supplementation and recognition of danger signs of diarrhea. In conclusion, most mothers in the working area of Kartasura Primary Health Center had good knowledge regarding diarrhea among toddlers. The findings are expected to serve as an evaluation material and a basis for planning health education programs to improve mothers’ understanding of diarrhea among toddlers.
