Abstract
This study aims to examine the legal aspects of the buying and selling of pirated novels in e-book format and the efforts made by relevant stakeholders to address such practices, viewed from both positive law and Islamic law as forms of copyright infringement. The research employs a normative legal method with a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing both statutory and conceptual approaches. Data were collected through library research, with primary legal sources including the Indonesian Civil Code (KUHPerdata), Law No. 28 of 2014 on Copyright, the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), and the Compilation of Sharia Economic Law (KHES). The findings reveal that: (1) Copyright protection is comprehensively regulated in Law No. 28 of 2014, (2) Exclusive rights consist of both economic and moral rights, and (3) In Islamic law, copyright protection is affirmed through MUI Fatwa No. 1/MUNAS VII/MUI/15/2005 and supported by Qur’anic values, particularly Surah Ash-Shu‘ara verse 183.
