Abstract
This study aims to describe the application, effectiveness, constrains, and solutions for the applying of the Guided Note Taking combination Crossword Puzzle to improve understanding of Indonesian democracy values in class XI TKJ A students of Adi Sumarmo Colomadu vocational school Karanganyar district academic year 2020/2021. This study uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches (Mixing Methods). The qualitative approach design uses case studies, while the quantitative uses pre-experimental design with One Group Pretest Posttest Design. Qualitative data collection techniques using in-depth interviews and observations. Quantitative data collection using tests. The validity of the qualitative data used source and technique triangulation, while the test item validity uses the Corelations Product Moment formula rough numbers. Test the reliability of the test instrument using the KR.20 formula. The data analysis in the qualitative approach used a flow model, while the quantitative approach used the Paired Sample T-test. The data normality test of this study used Kolmogorof Smirnov by calculating the normality test data for Pretest and Posttest. The results showed that t-count 10.534 was greater than t-table 2.086 with a significance level of 0.05. The average score of Pretest 48 increased to 72,25 at Posttest. Based on these results it can be concluded that the hypothesis proposed by Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is a difference in understanding of Indonesian democracy values in class XI TKJ A students of Adi Sumarmo Colomadu vocational school Karanganyar district academic year 2020/2021 between before (Pretest) and after being given treatment (Posttest) using the Guided Note Taking combination Crossword Puzzle strategy. This difference shows an increase in the average score of understanding the values of Indonesian democracy between before (Pretest) and after treatment (Posttest). The obstacles faced in this study are mainly limited time related to the implementation of the research. An alternative solution to overcome the obstacle is that the researcher arrives earlier than the research schedule and must be good at managing time well. The conclusion above implies that if the teacher want to your understanding of the values of the Indonesian Democracy in students, it is very appropriate to do this by implementing the Guided Note Taking combination Crossword Puzzle strategy.
