Abstract

A traffic accident is an incident that occurs on a road that involves road users with vehicles or non-road users accidentally and its unpredictable occurrence will result in the loss of property and human casualties. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge of safety riding and the type of vehicle with the incidence of traffic accidents in students of SMAN 2 Boyolali. This study used a quantitative analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a total sample size of 287 respondents. Statistical test using the Fischer Exact test. The results of statistical tests show that there is a relationship between knowledge of safety riding and the incidence of traffic accidents in students of SMAN 2 Boyolali with a value (p-value = 0.041) and there is no relationship between the type of vehicle and the incidence of traffic accidents in students of SMAN 2 Boyolali with a value (p -value = 1,000). It is suggested that students are expected to continue to improve their safety riding efforts and complete safety riding components so as to minimize traffic accidents..
