Abstract

This development research aims to 1) describe the steps for developing HOTS-based assessment instruments on the subject of relations and functions, 2) know the feasibility of a HOTS-based assessment instrument on the subject of relations and functions. This research uses the research and development method (R&D) or so-called research and development method. The development model used is the Borg and Gall model development procedure. As for the steps used namely: reseacrh and data collection, planning, product draft development, revisions, initial field trials, and field trials. The subjects of this research were 31 students of class VIII D SMP Negeri 2 Gatak. The results show that assessment in the form of material, construction, and language aspects is valid and suitable for use. The development of an assessment instrument based on HOTS obtained the validity of the total mean score of 3,54 which was included in the very good category. The reliability result is 0,825 with a very high interpretation. The questions have an average item difficulty level of 0,62 which is in the medium categoy and the average distinguishing power of the items is 0,23 which is categorized quite good.
