Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the structure of the builder in the novel Sepasang Angsa Putih Untuk Palupi by Marliana Kuswanti. (2) describes aspek of motivation in the novel Sepasang Angsa Putih Untuk Palupi by Marliana Kuswanti. (3) describe the relevance of motivational aspects in the novel Sepasang Angsa Putih Untuk Palupi by Marliana Kuswanti as teaching materials for Indonesian literature in high school. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data collection teachiques in this study using libary techniques, refer to, and record. The validity of the data used is theoretic triangulation and data triangulation. The results of this study are (1) the theme of a person’s struggle to become a professional writer, plot forward, characterization, the main character Palupi, additional figures Mr., Mrs., Mas Ganjar, Mas Heru, Mbak Siwi, Sarmilah, Bonita, Santi, and Ken, and Yogyakarta and Jakarta, the setting of the time occurred in 2006 to 2016, social backgrrounds of different cities. (2) aspects of motivation to meet physiological needs, namely working to eat, the need for security to find a boss who can protect, the need for love and having, that is always communicating with my mother and friend and choosing a boyfriend not arbitrarily, the need for self-esteem by working hard to get the book published, and self-actualization is proven by novels and other works that can be published and can be established with money as a writer. (3) this research is relevant in clas XI KD 3.11. analyze messages from a fiction book that is read, and KD 4.11. compile reviews of messages from a fiction book that is read.
