Abstract
This research is aimed of describing (1) the strategies are applied by the students developing their listening skill (2) the problems by the students in developing their listening skill (3) How the students face their problems in developing their listening skill. This research is descriptive qualitative. The data are strategies in developing listening skill. The data were taken from the event or observation conducted to the eleventh-grade students of SMA N 3 Boyolali. The data were collected from interview, document analysis and documentation. The study revealed that metacognitive strategies were applied most frequently with a mean score 3.48. Meanwhile, social strategies were deployed least intensively with a mean score 2.77. In Students’ listening difficulties, it found two factors; internal and external factors. In solving the students’ problems in developing their listening skill, scanning the question before listening helped the students to be able to guess and get clue the topic would be heard.
