Abstract
The objective of the study is to improve the understanding of students' mathematical learning concepts through the use of tempel paper media in students of class VII C at Muhammadiyah 5 Middle School in Surakarta. This research on classroom action research conducts in collaboration between researchers and mathematics teachers. Data collection techniques in this study uses tests and field notes and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study is qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques using critical analysis techniques. The results of this study are increasing conceptual understanding of students learning mathematics students, From 22 students can be seen from before the action: 1) students who are able to restate a concept as many as 5 students (22,73%), 2) students who can provide examples of a concept as many as 8 students (36,36%), 3) students who can apply a concept to solve mathematical problems by 3 students (13,64%). and After the action is taken to get results: 1) students who are able to restate a concept as many as 14 students (63,63%), 2) students who can provide examples of a concept as many as 16 students (72,72%), 3) students who can apply a concept to solve mathematical problems as many as 15 students (68,18%)
