Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the characteristics of book presentation; (2) describe the character values of responsibility and hard work in class IV thematic books theme 4 Various Work; and (3) how to apply the character of responsibility and hard work to grade IV students at SD Muhammadiyah 16 Surakarta. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The validity of the data used in this study is the triangulation of sources, techniques and time. Data collection through listening methods, note taking techniques, observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that. (1) Thematic book component class IV theme 4 Various Works include: book title, preface, about student books, table of contents, title of the theme sub theme, bibliography, author profile, reviewers profile, editor profile, and illustrator profile. (2) The charge character of responsibility and hard work contained in the thematic books class IV theme 4 Various Occupations 10 charge characters Responsibility and 20 charge characters hard work. Text that includes the characters of responsibility and hard work, namely short story text, explanatory text and review text. (3) the teacher uses three strategies in teaching and learning activities, in extracurricular activities and in daily life. In teaching and learning activities using thematic books theme 4 various jobs by giving the task of making posters on the sub-page 1 page 11. Extracurricular activities of the sacred sites to foster a sense of competition to be more advanced and superior to their opponents. and the daily tasks of class picket schedules to foster an attitude of responsibility towards oneself, groups and classes.
