Abstract

Traffic discipline as an important attitude that needs to be accustomed to all motorists or cars to be safe to their destination. Good safety for yourself and other road users. Riders are important for discipline because discipline is related to regulations. An undisciplined rider means breaking the rules and has a negative impact on the violator of the rule of being punished. This study aims to find out empirically about: (1) The relationship between self-control and traffic discipline in adolescents in Klaten district. (2) Level of self-control and traffic discipline. (3) Effective contribution of self-control to traffic discipline. The population in this study were all students of Class X, XI, and XII of SMA N 1 Polanharjo Klaten 2 totaling 815 students. The sample in this study were high school students N 1 Polanharjo Klaten aged 17 years and above consisting of class XI amounting to 105 students. The method for collecting data in this study is a questionnaire. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-control and traffic discipline. To test the relationship in this study is the product moment correlation. Based on the results of the study, the results of this study can be summarized as follows: (1) There is a very significant positive relationship between self-control and traffic discipline. (2) The results of the category of traffic discipline are high with an empirical (ME) mean of 119.77 and a hypothetical mean (MH) of 92.5. The results of the self-control category are high with empirical mean (ME) = 87.97 and hypothetical mean (MH) = 70. (3) The influence of self-control on traffic discipline is 58.2%. This means that there are still several other variables that affect traffic discipline, in addition to self control of 41.8%.
