Abstract
This study aims to describe metacognition of students in math problems on the subject of abstract linear system of two variables in terms of math ability. Based on indicators of metacognition that is prediction, planning, monitoring, and evaluation. From 23 samples taken 3 subjects in research by metacognition category high, medium, and low. Retrieval technique using semple test results and consideration of teachers. Data collection techniques in the study using the test, the interviews of students and teachers, also documentations. The validity of the data are verified by triangulation method that is comparing the results of student’s and teacher’s tests. Technique of data analysis using data reduction, data precentation and withdrawal of the conclusion. Based on the research, the students with high capability of metacognition are fulfilled all the indicators of metacognition. The students with medium capability of metacognition are meet 1 to 3 indicator metacognition caused of less thorough in working on the problem and less mastered all materials. The students with low capability of metacognition are meet 0 to 1 indicator metacognition caused of less thorough, less mastered of materials, and less control the operation of count correctly. The teachers are stated that less equality of student’s mathematical ability are caused of less concentration level students, low memory ability and understanding of the students is low.
