Abstract
This study aims to 1) describe the ability to solve math word problems at the level of pre-struktural; 2) describes the ability to solve math story problems at the uni-structural level; 3) describes the ability to solve math story problems at the multistructural level; 4) describes the ability to solve math story problems at the relational level; 5) describe the ability to solve math word problems at the level of the extended abstract. This research is classified as qualitative research. Design research used is qualitative research fenomenologis. Data collection techniques used yait u observation, interview and documentation. Test data validity using source triangulation and technique. Data were analyzed using an interactive model. The results showed that: 1) the ability to solve math story problems at the pre-structural level, the students can not do the assigned task exactly means students do not have the skills that can be used in completing the task. 2) ability to solve the problem of mathematics story at unistruktural level, student a little understand with problem so feel difficulty in answer matter; 3) ability to solve math story problem at multistruktural level, student understand with problem given, and answer problem by making some relation from some data; 4) ability to solve math story problem at relational level, student use some data and apply in process with comprehension problem, plan how to solve problem and implement planning in solving problem; 5) Ability to solve math story problems in the extended abstract stage, students use some information that has been obtained then apply in the process of answering questions and always review the answers already given.
