Abstract

Interest is the most convincing capital for the succes of a learning process. A someone have interest in lesson automatically feel happy in learning process. Basic phenomenon in SMP 7 Muhammadiyah Surakarta in teching learning process, the teacher give praying subject used speech method, make the sutdents feel bored. As evidence, most student do not pay attention to teacher explanations, they tend to do things that do not support the learning process, such as fuss with peers, out of the classroom, and even some who throw paper to be thrown to a friend. Therefore, a teacher needs make conducive atmosphere in class. Therefore, students who were less interesed. Problem statement in this research is how to teacher’s effort to improve the interest of praying learning at SMP 7 Muhammadiyah Surakarta in 2017/2018 academic year. Whereas, the purpose in this research to describe to teacher’s effort to improve the interest of praying learning at SMP 7 Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This research is qualitatif research. The subject of the research is teacher and students of SMP 7 Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Method of collecting data use observation, interview, and documentation. Whereas, analysing of data use descritive qualitative analysis techniques conducted by giving meaning to the data collected, and from that meaning can get conclusion with inductive mindset. Based from the result can conclude that efforts by teacher to improve the interest of praying learning at SMP 7 Muhammadiyah Surakarta, is: (1) start a lesson using stories relating to the material being taught. (2) give special attention to the students who are getting saturated in the from of spontaneous questions; (3) using learning media, such as; LCD Slide power point and playing a movie; (4) various learning method, namely; demontration method (practice) and class discussions; (5) implementing learning outside, such as in mosque of school; and (6) applying reward and punishment, reward given in the form additionl value, and punishment given in the form of summarizing the material that has not been understood.
