Abstract
The study aims to describe the implementation of teaching vocabulary by using English magazine and improve the students vocabulary mastery at SMP N 1 Tanon Sragen. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The writer took the first year students of SMP N 1 Tanon Sragen as the subject of study. To collect the data, the writer conducted observation, document and test. The writer conducted Classroom Action Research (CAR) in three cycles in which each cycle consists of four elements, namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The problem found in the third meeting is that the students were not concentrated on vocabulary because they were not interested in the article and some of them were not active to study English. The writer used new interesting article to influence students attention, so that they focus on material. The result of the research show that (1) there were 34 students who increased vocabulary achievement (2) there were 6 students who were static achievement. The students felt happy and were more active and enjoyed studying English. They could also memorize the English words. The result of this research shows that the result of pre test is 6,9 and post test is 8,6. It means that the students vocabulary increases after they are taught using English magazine.
