Abstract

Randusanga Beach in Brebes Regency is one of the coastal tourism areas experiencing a decline in quality due to coastal abrasion, tidal flooding (rob), and the lack of integrated spatial planning and tourism facilities. This condition reflects a gap between the area's potential and the existing quality of spatial management. The available tourism supporting facilities remain limited and are not yet well-integrated, resulting in suboptimal comfort and spatial experience for visitors. This study aims to formulate a revitalization concept for the Randusanga coastal tourism area that is more organized, comfortable, and has improved tourism appeal. It also seeks to implement an adaptive coastal tourism design through a coastal resilience approach and to develop a sustainable coastal tourism area by applying ecotourism principles that consider environmental, social, and economic aspects of the local community. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including literature review, field observation, and analyses of site conditions, activities, and spatial requirements, which are then synthesized into a comprehensive design concept. Primary data were obtained through field observations, while secondary data were collected from literature studies, scientific journals, books, and regional planning documents. The main findings indicate that the implementation of coastal resilience can be achieved through adaptive strategies such as strengthening mangrove vegetation as a natural buffer, elevating building structures to anticipate tidal flooding, and designing spaces that respond to tidal dynamics. In addition, a breakwater system is introduced as a coastal protection structure to reduce wave energy, minimize abrasion, and maintain shoreline stability. Meanwhile, sustainable ecotourism is realized through conservation-based zoning, the development of environmental education activities, and the empowerment of the local economy through tourism and micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). The resulting design concept consists of a zoning-based spatial arrangement (conservation, tourism, education, and economic zones), an integrated and pedestrian-friendly circulation system, adaptive coastal open spaces, and architectural elements that respond to climate and coastal environmental conditions. The integration of coastal resilience and sustainable ecotourism produces a tourism area design that not only enhances environmental quality and visitor experience but also strengthens the area's resilience to coastal disaster risks.
