Abstract

Literary works not only serve as a source of entertainment but also portray various aspects of human life, including the emotional expressions of chracters. This study examines the emotional expressions of characters in Jessica Carmelia’s Warung Bujang and their utilization as teaching materials for short story writing using Squibler. The study aimed to describe the types and forms of emotional expressions and their utilization as teaching materials. This research emplyoyed a qualitative descriptive method with a literary psychology approach. The data consisted of quotations representing the characters’ emotional expression: facial expression, vocal expression, and gestures. The finding were then utilized to develop teaching materials dor short story writing using Squibler, which were validated as feasible in terms of content, presentation, and language.
