Abstract
This study aims to (1) describe the structure of the novel Asih by Risa Saraswati; (2) describe the emotional expressions of the main character in the novel Asih by Risa Saraswati; and (3) utilize the emotional expressions of the main character in the novel Asih by Risa Saraswati as teaching material for emotional management via YouTube. This study analyzes the forms of emotion in the novel Asih as teaching materials for emotion management via YouTube. This study employs a qualitative research method. The research subjects are the forms of emotion and the utilization of the main character’s emotional expressions in Risa Saraswati’s novel Asih for YouTube-based emotion management educational materials. The data in this study consist of words, sentences, and paragraphs containing emotional expressions and information regarding their utilization in the novel Asih as teaching materials. The data were collected using the observation-and-note-taking technique and through discussions with teachers and peers. The data validation technique used was peer debriefing. The data analysis technique employed in this study was content analysis. The research findings are as follows. (1) The structure of the novel *Asih* by Risa Saraswati. (2) The forms of emotion in the novel Asih include positive and negative emotions. Positive emotions include willingness, interest and curiosity, happiness, joy, and delight, as well as love and affection. Negative emotions include irritation, fear, sadness, depression, anger, hatred, indecision, and guilt. (3) These forms of emotion can be used as teaching material for emotion management via YouTube, specifically for education on understanding one’s own emotions (problem-focused coping), reducing emotional stress through positive thinking (emotion-focused coping), and seeking social support.
