Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the forms of code mixing, types of code mixing, and the use of code mixing in the comment column on the IG account @totalpolitik.com. The purpose of the research is to describe the forms of code mixing, types of code mixing, and the background of the use of code mixing in the comment column of the IG account @totalpolitik.com. The type of research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of data analysis, the forms of code mixing include the insertion of elements in the form of words, phrases, clauses, basters, and word repetitions. There are 5 data for word insertion, 4 data for phrase insertion, 2 data for clause insertion, 3 data for baster insertion, and 2 data for word repetition insertion. The types of code mixing include inward code mixing, outward code mixing, and mixed code mixing. The findings of inward code mixing are 4 data, outward code mixing are 8 data, and mixed code mixing are 2 data. Overall, the background reasons for the use of code mixing in the comments column of the Total Politik Instagram account are influenced by several factors, namely the formality of social media language, prestige factors, and social and regional identity factors.
