Abstract
Effective classroom management is fundamental to creating a conducive and meaningful learning environment, yet teachers in pesantren-based institutions have not fully integrated the values of the Prophet's hadith systematically as a foundation for classroom management. This study aims to (1) identify classroom management concepts derivable from the Prophet's hadiths; (2) analyze their implementation at PPTQ Muhammadiyah Atmo Wahjono (PPTQM Atwah) and PP Modern Muhammadiyah Sangen (PPM Sangen); and (3) produce a comparative analysis between both institutions. The study employs a qualitative paradigm combining textual and field research with a descriptive-phenomenological approach. Data were collected through hadith takhrij and sanad criticism, participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with validity examined through technique and source triangulation. The findings reveal eight classroom management concepts derived from the Prophet's hadiths: opening activities with supplication, facilitating the learning process (taisīr), gentleness and smiling (rifq), varied instructional methods, justice ('adl), mutual respect (takrīm al-insān), repetition of explanation (tikrār), and collaboration and care (ta'āwun). Comparatively, PPTQM Atwah excels in consistency and uniformity of implementation across educators, while PPM Sangen excels in the depth of individual pedagogical innovation, including joyful learning, project-based learning, peer-tutoring, and double reinforcement. Both institutions face the shared challenge of institutionalizing these good practices as binding collective pedagogical standards.
